The St Peter's School Parent-Teacher Association has been a registered charity since 1995. Our object is simple and written into our constitution: to advance the education of the pupils in the school.
Three things, done well
Build community
We develop effective relationships between staff, parents and everyone associated with the school, and our events are where that community actually happens.
Raise funds
Fairs, discos, quiz nights, movie nights, wreath making, cake sales and raffles across the year, run entirely by volunteers.
Give it back
Every pound goes into activities, facilities and equipment that support the school and enrich pupils' education, from Reception through to Sixth Form.
The committee
Committee members and trustees are elected each year at our AGM, which every parent, carer and staff member is welcome to attend and vote at. Newer members shadow key roles before taking them on, so nobody is thrown in at the deep end.

Governance in brief: we're managed by an elected committee under our constitution, decisions are made by majority vote, all expenditure is approved by the committee, and our accounts are reviewed annually and reported to the Charity Commission. From tombola to classroom
Teachers and departments put forward bids for funding: anything from pond dipping kits to retreat subsidies. The committee reviews each bid against available funds and votes. Where we can, we buy the item directly for the school and keep the invoice on file, so every pound is traceable from the event where it was raised to the pupils it benefits.
Recent examples include the Life Education Bus visit, music equipment, Forest School supplies, Art Club materials and a 50% subsidy on the Secondary Chapel retreat so the price stays fair for families.
Can you help?
You may have a lot of free time or just a few hours here and there. You might volunteer regularly, or once a year at a single event. Whatever your situation, we'd welcome your contribution, however big or small. No special skills or expertise needed, just a bit of time.
Come to a meeting
We meet roughly once per half term, usually Monday evenings for about an hour. Dates are on the What's Next page.
Help at an event
Join our PTA Helpers group and pick up specific, time-boxed jobs: a stall for an hour, wrapping prizes, selling tokens at pick-up.
