We're a registered charity, which means real rules: an elected committee, majority-vote decisions, annual accounts and public reporting. Here's how it all fits together.
The rules we run by
St Peter's School Parent-Teacher Association is governed by a constitution first adopted on 21 June 1993. In summary:
Object and aims
Our charitable object is to advance the education of pupils in the school. We do this by building relationships between staff, parents and the school community, providing facilities and equipment that support the school, and raising funds through fairs, discos and community events.
Membership
Membership is open to all parents, carers and staff of St Peter's School. Members have the right to attend meetings, vote, and stand for election to the committee.
Committee and meetings
The PTA is managed by an elected committee: Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and additional members. Elections take place at the Annual General Meeting, and decisions are made by majority vote.
Money
Funds are held in a bank account in the PTA's name, all expenditure is approved by the committee, accounts are reviewed annually, and funds may only be used to support activities, resources and facilities that benefit pupils. If the PTA were ever dissolved, remaining funds would transfer to St Peter's School for the benefit of pupils.

Charity Commission registration
We are registered charity number 1046959, registered on 5 June 1995. Our annual returns, income and expenditure history, and trustee details are all publicly available on the Charity Commission register.
AGM and minutes
Our Annual General Meeting is held each autumn; the most recent took place on 14 September 2026 (see the AGM report), and the next regular meeting is on Monday 5 October 2026. It's where the accounts are presented, the committee is elected and the year's plans are set. Every parent, carer and staff member is welcome to attend and vote.
